Can you believe it’s taken me this long to post?

Officially, I am the last to blog about last weekend of several people who not only attended the events, but flew to get there.  Apologies!

Last weekend was commemorative, to say the least.  I headed to Alexandria Thursday evening after work so that I could cook with Mom and my aunt Leanne all day Friday.  We were on soup duty for my brother’s wedding reception.  We made 5 gallons of each of the 3 soups and holy crap, 15 gallons is a lot of soup!  By Friday evening, Tim was there to help, the tables were set up and nearly decorated, the food was mostly done, and the entire family was pretty much pooped.  Early to bed!

Saturday was a big day.  We had a baby shower in the morning and a wedding reception in the evening.  I know, you are thinking we are insane for scheduling two things on the same day.  The shower date was decided and then the reception venue was only available for that day, so we did it anyway despite the recommendations of several people.  It made life a little simpler for people who traveled long distances (we had people from Seattle, Florida, Michigan, and all over the state of Indiana) and it also was nice to have two happy events on the anniversary of my Grandma’s death.  How she would have loved celebrating a new baby on the way and Logan and Vanessa’s Alaskan elopement and honeymoon!  Despite the fact that it was sheer chaos for much of the weekend, I am glad we had them both on the same day.  Both events were totally enjoyable and beautifully put together.

My baby shower was so darling!  The food was gorgeous and delicious, the company was divine, and the presents were generous.
This is one lucky kid!

I had several long distance surprise guests who were so sweet to come. Kendra and Kenley came from Orlando, cousin and co-host Maggi came from Pittsburgh, Misha came from Seattle, Megan and baby Wade came from not too far but I haven’t seen her in over a year, and a former nanny mama, Elaine, came with the absurdly tall Amelia from Michigan!  This was a huge group in addition to the always present and supportive family and friends I am lucky to call my own.  Thank you to Abbi, Maggi, and Yaya (Sharon) for co-hosting with my sweet sister, Kait.  It was absolutely perfect!

Later that night we had the wedding reception to celebrate Logan and Vanessa’s August Alaskan wedding.  It was beautiful!

As the reception was in winding down, the newlyweds and friends started dancing and having arguably the best night of their lives, but then Vanessa fell and broke her foot just before midnight.  Poor Log and Nessi spent most of the night in the ER and the following day in severe pain.

She has seen the Ortho people since then and is in a very becoming boot with better pain meds, so she is on the mend, thank goodness.

What a weekend!  We are so grateful for the gifts Mister Baby Ballard got this weekend, but even more so for the love of friends and family.  This guy is going to have quite the support system when he makes his appearance.
